Schools that lose big in Cuyahoga County high school math contest

Cuyahsoga County Public Schools have dropped its math contest after students found it offensive.

The CuyAHOE high school and the Pacific Coast High School in Miami, which is located near a popular lakefront restaurant, have lost the contest.

The schools announced the change Friday.

The contest was held in June, and students were allowed to vote on whether to make an award, which included points for math skills and a certificate of achievement.

The finalists were chosen by the public.

The schools said the competition was inappropriate and the finalists would have received $1,000 for their achievement.
